A glorious jumble of shaved ice, sweetened beans, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream. The Philippines in a glass — colorful, playful, and irresistible.
What You'll Need
Step by Step
Prepare all toppings in advance. Sweetened beans and fruits can be made from scratch or sourced from a Filipino grocery store.
In a tall glass, layer the sweetened beans, jackfruit, plantain, macapuno, nata de coco, and kaong.
Pack shaved ice generously on top of the toppings, mounding it high above the glass.
Drizzle evaporated milk over the shaved ice.
Place a slice of leche flan on top of the ice.
Add a scoop of ube ice cream and a spoonful of ube halaya.
Sprinkle pinipig on top for crunch.
Serve immediately with a long spoon. Mix everything together before eating — that is the halo-halo way.
